Host: Welcome to Get Heard Of, where local businesses tell you who they are and what they do. Today I'm chatting to Kelly, from Kelly's Plumbing. Morning, Kelly!

Kelly's Plumbing: Morning. Thanks for having me.

Host: So, let's start simple. What do you actually do, day to day?

Kelly's Plumbing: Yeah, so, bit of everything really. Leaks, boilers breaking down, blocked drains. Fitting new taps, toilets, showers. We do the emergency stuff and the everyday stuff, across Brighton and Hove.

Host: Right, so if someone's boiler packs in on a Sunday morning, that's you?

Kelly's Plumbing: That's us, yeah. Or a leak that won't wait till Monday. We try to be there when people actually need us, not just nine to five.

Host: That's reassuring. There's a lot of plumbers out there though, what makes you different?

Kelly's Plumbing: Honestly? We turn up when we say we will. Sounds basic, but it's not always what happens with tradespeople, is it?

Host: Ha, true.

Kelly's Plumbing: And before we touch anything, we explain what we're going to do, and what it's going to cost. No surprises on the bill. People hate that, getting stung at the end.

Host: Yeah, that's a big one, isn't it. Nobody wants a shock on the invoice.

Kelly's Plumbing: Exactly. We'd rather just say it upfront. If it's going to cost more than you thought, you should know that before we start, not after.

Host: So who's this best for? Who do you usually end up working with?

Kelly's Plumbing: Homeowners mostly. And landlords, quite a lot of landlords actually.

Host: Oh, really? I'd not thought about landlords needing someone reliable.

Kelly's Plumbing: Oh, they need it more than anyone. They've often got a tenant on the phone stressed out, and they're not even in the same building. They just want someone who'll pick up the phone and sort it.

Host: That makes sense. So it's as much about being contactable as anything else.

Kelly's Plumbing: Yeah, that's a huge part of it, I think. If you can't get hold of your plumber, what's the point, really.

Host: What sort of jobs land on your desk most often, would you say?

Kelly's Plumbing: Loads of leaks, honestly. Boilers going on the blink, especially when the weather turns. Blocked drains come up a lot too. And then the quieter stuff, new bathrooms, new taps, that kind of thing, where there's no emergency, people are just updating the house.

Host: So it's a real mix, not just the panic calls.

Kelly's Plumbing: Yeah, exactly. Some days it's a flood somewhere, some days it's just fitting a new toilet because someone fancied a change. Keeps it interesting.

Host: And across all of that, is there one thing you want people to take away, if they're thinking about calling you?

Kelly's Plumbing: Just that we'll tell you straight. What's wrong, what it'll cost, and when we'll be there. That's really it, we're not trying to overcomplicate it.

Host: I love that, keeping it honest and straightforward. Well, if you're in Brighton or Hove and you need a plumber you can actually trust, and who'll pick up the phone, get in touch with Kelly's Plumbing. Kelly, thanks so much for coming in.

Kelly's Plumbing: Thanks for having me.
