Host: Morning, and welcome back to GetHeardOf. Today I'm chatting to the owner of Kelly's Plumbing, who look after homes and properties right across Brighton and Hove. Morning, thanks for coming in.

Kelly's Plumbing: Morning. Thanks for having me.

Host: So just to kick off, tell us what you actually get up to day to day.

Kelly's Plumbing: Yeah, so, bit of everything really. Leaks, boiler breakdowns, blocked drains. New taps, toilets, showers going in. If it's got water running through it, chances are we've dealt with it.

Host: Right, so proper emergency stuff as well as the everyday jobs?

Kelly's Plumbing: Exactly that. Some days it's a boiler's packed in and someone's got no heating, other days it's just, you know, a tap that's been dripping for a month and someone's finally had enough of it.

Host: Ha, fair enough. Now, plumbers aren't exactly short on the ground round here, what do you think makes you lot different?

Kelly's Plumbing: Honestly? We turn up when we say we will. Sounds simple, but you'd be surprised how far that goes.

Host: Yeah? I think a lot of people have got a story about waiting in all day for someone.

Kelly's Plumbing: Exactly. And the other thing is, before we touch anything, we tell people what we're doing and what it's going to cost. No surprises on the bill. We just think that's how it should work.

Host: That makes sense. So who's your typical customer, would you say?

Kelly's Plumbing: Mostly homeowners and landlords around Brighton and Hove. People who just want someone reliable. Someone who'll actually pick up the phone when they call, and not leave them guessing.

Host: That's a big one for landlords especially, I'd imagine, with tenants chasing them.

Kelly's Plumbing: Massively. If a landlord can't get hold of their plumber quick, that's their problem too, not just ours. So we try to make that easy for them.

Host: And in terms of the jobs you're getting called out for, is it more the emergencies, or more the little everyday fixes?

Kelly's Plumbing: Bit of both, really. We get the panicked calls, pipe's burst, boiler's dead, no hot water. But just as much it's someone wanting a new bathroom suite put in, or a shower that's never worked properly sorted out.

Host: So it's not just firefighting, you're doing the planned stuff too.

Kelly's Plumbing: Yeah, exactly. We're happy either way. Some people only ring when it's gone wrong, others like to get ahead of it. We don't mind which.

Host: And is there a type of job that comes up more than people would expect?

Kelly's Plumbing: Blocked drains, probably. People don't think about it till it's a problem, and then it's urgent, isn't it. So we get a fair few of those.

Host: Makes sense. Last one, if someone's listening and thinking they need a plumber, what would you say to them?

Kelly's Plumbing: Just give us a call. We'll talk you through what it is before we do anything, and go from there. No pressure, no messing about.

Host: Love that. Well, if you're in Brighton or Hove and need a plumber who'll actually turn up and tell you straight what's what, give Kelly's Plumbing a ring. Thanks so much for coming in.

Kelly's Plumbing: Thanks for having me.
