Kelly's Plumbing GetHeardOf Podcast 1 October 2026 Host: Morning, and welcome back to GetHeardOf. Today I'm chatting with the person behind Kelly's Plumbing, covering Brighton and Hove. Thanks for coming in. Kelly's Plumbing: No, thanks for having me. It's a bit strange being the one answering questions, but here we are. Host: Ha, I'll keep it easy. So, just to start, what does a typical day look like for you? What kind of jobs are you doing? Kelly's Plumbing: Honestly? Bit of everything. Leaks, boilers playing up, blocked drains, people wanting a new tap or a shower fitted. Some days it's an emergency, someone's got water coming through the ceiling, other days it's just, you know, a toilet that won't stop running. Host: Right, so proper mix then. Emergency stuff and the everyday jobs too. Kelly's Plumbing: Yeah, exactly. We don't really turn our nose up at anything. If it's plumbing and it's in Brighton or Hove, we'll have a look at it. Host: And with there being quite a few plumbers around, what do you think makes people pick up the phone and call you specifically? Kelly's Plumbing: I think it's mostly that we turn up when we say we will. Sounds simple, but it's not that common, actually. Host: Yeah, I've heard that one before, people waiting in all day. Kelly's Plumbing: All the time. So we're pretty strict with ourselves on that. And before we touch anything, we tell people what we're going to do and what it's going to cost. No surprises when the bill comes. Host: That must save a lot of awkward conversations afterwards. Kelly's Plumbing: It does, yeah. Nobody likes an invoice that doesn't match what they thought they were getting. We'd rather just say it upfront, even if it's not what someone wants to hear. Host: That makes sense. So who would you say is the ideal customer for you? Who's this really aimed at? Kelly's Plumbing: Homeowners, mostly, but landlords too. People who just want someone they can trust to sort it, and who'll actually answer the phone when something's gone wrong. Host: I imagine landlords especially need that, if they've got tenants chasing them. Kelly's Plumbing: Yeah, that's exactly it. If a tenant's ringing them about no hot water, they don't want to be chasing three different plumbers trying to find one who's free. They want someone they already know will pick up. Host: That's a really good point actually. So is it mostly repeat customers, people coming back to you? Kelly's Plumbing: Quite a lot, yeah. Once someone's had a good experience with a plumber they tend to just stick with them, rather than start from scratch again next time. Host: Makes sense, you don't want to be googling plumbers every single time something breaks. Kelly's Plumbing: Exactly. It's not a fun job to go looking for, finding a plumber. So if we can be the one they just ring without thinking twice, that's the goal really. Host: And is there anything people get wrong about plumbers in general, that you're trying to sort of push back against? Kelly's Plumbing: I think people expect to get messed about a bit, if I'm honest. Vague timings, vague pricing. We just try not to do that. Host: Keep it straightforward. Kelly's Plumbing: Yeah, that's it really. Turn up, explain what's going on, tell you the cost, get it done. Nothing complicated about it. Host: Well, that sounds exactly like the kind of plumber most people are after. If you're in Brighton or Hove and need someone reliable, this has been Kelly's Plumbing. Thanks so much for chatting with us. Kelly's Plumbing: Thanks for having me, it's been good fun.
