Host: Welcome to Get Heard Of, where local businesses tell you who they are and what they do. Today we're chatting to the lovely folks behind Brew & Bloom Café. I've got the owner with me now. Morning!
Brew & Bloom Café: Morning! Thanks for having me.
Host: So tell us, what exactly is Brew & Bloom? Because it's not just a café, is it?
Brew & Bloom Café: No, not quite. We do speciality coffee, proper cakes, brunch and all that. But we've also got flowers at the counter. Bit of a mix, I know.
Host: Ha, I bet people are surprised when they walk in.
Brew & Bloom Café: They are, yeah. They come in for a coffee and end up leaving with a bunch of flowers under their arm as well. It works, though.
Host: So what's a typical visit like, then? Walk me through it.
Brew & Bloom Café: Well, it depends what time you come in, really. Mornings it's more the brunch crowd, people taking their time over eggs and coffee. Afternoons it's more cake and a cuppa. We're pretty relaxed about it, there's no rush.
Host: That sounds like a proper sit-down, take-your-time kind of place.
Brew & Bloom Café: That's exactly it. We're not trying to turn tables quick. If you want to sit for two hours with one coffee, that's fine by us.
Host: So what would you say makes you different from other cafés doing a similar thing?
Brew & Bloom Café: Honestly? Everything's baked on site, every morning. Nothing's brought in frozen or from a van. And the flowers, they come from a local grower, not some big wholesaler.
Host: Oh, that's nice.
Host: So it's all quite local, then?
Brew & Bloom Café: Yeah, as much as we can manage. It just feels right, doing it that way. And the cakes taste better for it too, I reckon.
Host: I can imagine the smell alone must bring people in.
Brew & Bloom Café: Ha, it does actually. People say that. They smell the baking before they even get through the door.
Host: So who would you say this place is really for?
Brew & Bloom Café: People who want to slow down a bit, I'd say. Whether that's a proper brunch with a friend, or just someone popping in for a good coffee and a slice of cake. We get a real mix, honestly.
Host: Right, yeah.
Host: And what about the flowers, who's that for?
Brew & Bloom Café: Oh, all sorts. Some people grab a bunch on the way to see someone, others just fancy some for themselves. It's nice having them there, it's not just coffee and cake, there's a bit more to look at.
Host: So what kind of customers do you see coming in day to day?
Brew & Bloom Café: Loads, honestly. Regulars who come in most mornings, people working nearby, folks meeting friends for a catch-up. And then a fair few who just wander in because the window looked nice, you know.
Host: That's the best kind of customer, isn't it? The ones who just wander in.
Brew & Bloom Café: It really is. You never know who's going to walk through that door.
Host: Well, this has been lovely. If you're after a relaxed brunch, a proper coffee, a bit of cake, or even some fresh flowers on the way home, go and find Brew & Bloom Café. Thanks so much for joining us today.
Brew & Bloom Café: Thanks for having me, it's been great.
