Host: Welcome to Get Heard Of, where local businesses tell you who they are and what they do. Today I'm chatting with the owner of Sharp Edge Barbers, a proper traditional barber shop just down the road. Thanks for coming in.

Sharp Edge Barbers: No bother, cheers for having me.

Host: So just give us the basics then. What's happening in the shop day to day?

Sharp Edge Barbers: Yeah, so we do all sorts really. Skin fades, the classic scissor cuts, beard trims, the lot. And every single cut, no matter what you come in for, finishes with a hot towel.

Host: Oh, that's nice.

Host: Not something you get everywhere these days, is it?

Sharp Edge Barbers: No, it's not. A lot of places have dropped it because it takes time, but we just think it finishes the job off properly. You feel like you've actually had something done, not just a quick snip and out the door.

Host: So what would you say makes you different from other barbers round here then?

Sharp Edge Barbers: Honestly? Walk-ins. We're open six days and you don't need to book. You can just turn up.

Host: Right, that's handy for blokes who can't plan ahead.

Sharp Edge Barbers: Exactly. Some fellas book weeks in advance for their haircut, fair play, but a lot of our lads just decide on the day. Dinner break, Saturday morning, whenever. We try to just get them seen.

Host: Six days a week is a decent spread. Does that mean it's always rammed in there?

Sharp Edge Barbers: Depends on the day, to be honest. Saturdays get busy, obviously. Through the week it's a bit steadier, so if you want a quieter chat and a proper sit down, weekdays are probably your best bet.

Host: Good tip for the listeners.

Host: So who'd you say this is really for? Like, who's your typical customer?

Sharp Edge Barbers: Blokes who want a proper cut, basically. And a bit of banter while they're at it.

Host: Ha, I bet there's some good chat goes on in there.

Sharp Edge Barbers: Oh, constant. That's half of it really, isn't it. You're sat in the chair for a bit, might as well have a laugh.

Host: What kind of jobs do you find yourselves doing most, then? Is it more fades, more traditional cuts, what's the mix like?

Sharp Edge Barbers: Bit of everything, honestly. We get younger lads wanting the sharp skin fades, and then we get older fellas who just want their usual short back and sides, same as they've always had. And beard trims in between all that.

Host: So it's not just one style, you're set up for whoever walks through the door.

Sharp Edge Barbers: Yeah, that's the idea. We don't want anyone thinking it's only for one type of cut. Traditional, modern, doesn't matter, we'll sort you out.

Host: And the hot towel shave, is that something people go in for specifically, or more of an add-on?

Sharp Edge Barbers: Bit of both, really. Some come in just for that on its own. Others just get it as the finish after their cut. Either way, it's a nice way to end things off.

Host: It does sound like the sort of place you go in needing a trim and come out feeling like you've had a proper treat.

Sharp Edge Barbers: That's what we're going for, yeah. Nothing fancy, just done right.

Host: Well, that's been great to hear about. If you're after a proper cut and a good chinwag while you're at it, get yourself down to Sharp Edge Barbers, walk-ins welcome six days a week. Thanks so much for popping in.

Sharp Edge Barbers: Cheers, thanks for having me.
