Ruby & Rose Hair Studio: Morning! Thanks for having us.

Host: So, for anyone who hasn't been in yet, what's Ruby & Rose all about?

Ruby & Rose Hair Studio: We're an independent salon, so cuts, colour, balayage, highlights, blow-dries. We do hair-up as well, for weddings and big nights out. And we do treatments too, if someone's hair's a bit battered and needs bringing back round.

Host: Right, so pretty much anything hair-related.

Ruby & Rose Hair Studio: Pretty much, yeah. Day to day it's a lot of cut and colour. But it's nice having the other bits too, keeps it interesting.

Host: And what would you say makes you different from, say, the salon down the road?

Ruby & Rose Hair Studio: Honestly? We always start with a proper chat. Every single appointment. We sit down, we listen, we don't just get the gown on and start snipping.

Host: Oh, that's nice. So no rushing people through.

Ruby & Rose Hair Studio: No, never. We'd rather take ten minutes at the start than get halfway through and realise we're not on the same page as what they wanted.

Host: That makes sense. What about colour, I know that's a big one for people, trusting someone with it.

Ruby & Rose Hair Studio: Yeah, colour's a big thing for us. We're not about chasing whatever's trending on the telly. It's more about what actually suits you, your skin, your hair, your life really.

Host: Yeah? So you'll talk someone out of something if it's not right for them?

Ruby & Rose Hair Studio: We will, gently. We'd rather be honest than just say yes to everything. People usually appreciate that, once they see it done.

Host: I like that. So who'd you say the salon's best for? Is there a particular type of customer?

Ruby & Rose Hair Studio: Anyone who wants someone that actually listens, really. But especially people who are a bit nervous. Maybe they've never gone for a big colour change before, or they want something different but they're scared of it going wrong.

Host: That nervousness is so common though, isn't it?

Ruby & Rose Hair Studio: So common. And that's exactly why we do the consultation properly. It takes the fear out of it. You know what you're getting before anyone's touched your hair.

Host: Makes sense. And brides as well, I'd imagine?

Ruby & Rose Hair Studio: Yeah, brides a lot. Big day, loads going on, the last thing they need is hair stress on top. We just try to make that part easy for them.

Host: And what's the general vibe like when people come in? You mentioned it's not like a production line.

Ruby & Rose Hair Studio: No, we hate that feeling. We want it to feel like you're popping in for a catch-up with mates, not getting processed through a conveyor belt.

Host: That's a lovely way to put it. So in terms of the day-to-day, what sort of appointments make up most of your week?

Ruby & Rose Hair Studio: Loads of cuts and colour, that's the bread and butter. Then treatments for anyone whose hair needs a bit of care. And the odd hair-up for something special, which is always a nice change of pace.
