Who we are
GetHeardOf is a trading name of Mark Kelly, a sole trader operating from Oakdene Close, Portslade, Brighton, East Sussex, BN41 2RN, United Kingdom (the data controller for the purposes of UK GDPR). If you have any questions about this policy or how your information is handled, contact getheardof@gmail.com.
What information we collect
When you request a free sample, we collect your email address, your business name, your business category, and the short description you give us of what makes your business different.
When you generate a paid episode, we collect the same details plus everything else you tell us about your business (what you do, who it’s best for), and which voice you chose for the episode. We also link your account to the email address you purchased with, and keep a record of your plan and remaining episode credits.
Payment is handled entirely by our payment processor. We never see or store your full card details.
How we use it
- To generate the podcast script and audio for your free sample or paid episode.
- To email you your free sample, so you can listen to it again. You can reply to that email to talk to us.
- To check whether an email address or business name has already claimed a free sample, so the free sample can’t be claimed more than once.
- To manage your account, plan, and episode credits.
- To respond if you contact us for support.
- If you accept analytics cookies, to understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it.
Legal basis for processing
We rely on the following lawful bases under UK GDPR:
- Performance of a contract: managing your account, processing payment, and generating and delivering your episode(s).
- Legitimate interests: preventing free sample abuse (checking an email or business name hasn’t already claimed one) and responding to support requests, where this doesn’t override your own rights and interests.
- Consent: analytics cookies, which only run if you accept them.
- Legal obligation: keeping financial records for accounting and tax purposes.
The interview script and audio are generated automatically by AI from the answers you give us, but this doesn’t involve any automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects on you, it’s content generation, not a decision made about you or your business.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of third-party services to run GetHeardOf, and the business details you submit are sent to them only for the purpose of generating and delivering your episode:
- A payment processor, for handling your payment securely.
- A cloud database provider, where your account and episode records are stored.
- A cloud hosting provider, for running the website.
- Third-party AI service providers, used to help generate your podcast script and audio.
- Analytics providers (Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity), only if you accept analytics cookies.
We don’t sell, rent, or otherwise share your information with anyone for marketing purposes.
International transfers
Some of the services we use to run GetHeardOf, including our hosting provider and the AI providers that generate scripts and audio, may process data outside the UK. Where this happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses, to keep your information protected to UK standards.
How long we keep it
We keep your account, episode, and payment record information for as long as your account is active, and for up to 6 years afterwards to meet our accounting and legal obligations. Free sample records (kept to prevent repeat free claims) are kept for up to 2 years. We’ll delete or anonymise information sooner where we no longer have a reason to keep it.
Cookies and analytics
Stripe and our hosting provider may set a small number of essential cookies needed to process payment or serve the site securely. Because these are strictly necessary for the site to function, your consent isn’t legally required for them.
With your permission, we also use two analytics tools to understand how people use GetHeardOf so we can improve it: Google Analytics (provided by Google) and Microsoft Clarity (provided by Microsoft). They set cookies that record things like which pages you visit, how you found us, and how you move around and click on the page, and Clarity can produce recordings of how the page was used, with what you type into forms hidden. We don’t use them for advertising. They only run if you choose “Accept” on our cookie banner, and you can change your mind at any time using “Cookie settings” at the bottom of the homepage.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to ask what information we hold about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted. To exercise any of these rights, email getheardof@gmail.com.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk, if you believe we haven’t handled your information properly.
Children
GetHeardOf is a business-to-business service intended for business owners and is not directed at children.
